ESI commissions the first iron flow battery in Australia at the National Battery Testing Centre

Following the signing of a major agreement with ESS Tech Inc., ESI Asia Pacific has received and commissioned the first iron redox flow battery in Australia. Over the past three months, our team has been hard at work installing and commissioning this battery at the QUT (Queensland University of Technology) National Battery Testing Centre (NBTC).  This battery was commissioned in early January.

The battery seen above is the first of its kind in Australia, and was manufactured by our partner ESS Tech Inc. From 2024, this is one of the models we will be assembling in our Maryborough manufacturing facility. ESI Asia Pacific has an exclusive licence to assemble and sell ESS’ technology in Australia, New Zealand, and parts of the wider Asia-Pacific region.

A thank you is owed to QUT, who operates the NBTC; the Queensland Government, for their continued support of the NBTC’s work and facilities; and the Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre, for its ongoing and comprehensive support of the NBTC project.

This is just the beginning of an exciting year for the company.
