Government-backed business development program funds Indonesian market study
The gateway to Indonesia has been opened for Energy Storage Industries Asia Pacific (ESI), with funding for a key market study potentially paving the way for greater expansion throughout South East Asia and the Pacific.
Katalis, a collaborative Australian and Indonesian Government initiative, has backed and funded a market entry study as ESI Asia Pacific investigates the deployment of a pilot battery in 2024 and a manufacturing facility in 2026.
This would allow ESI to further scale up manufacturing operations and realise greater market opportunities in the region, with funding of the market entry study commencing in May 2022.
Katalis is being implemented by Cardno, in collaboration with Equity Economics, EY, and AsiaLink. They are overseen through a joint Economic Cooperation Committee, which is co-chaired by Bappenas (Indonesia), and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Australia). The Indonesian Ministry of Trade and Ministry of Foreign Affairs are also members of this Committee.
